Find Me 06:16
When I get stuck within these streets can´t recognize the one passing me by I´m slipping out this cruel embrace to where I meet the sky Slow motion bores me - what is worse is no motion at all grey heavy weighed pigeon birds symbolize my fall But you know where to find my when the city leaves no space it´s down there by the river where my thoughts keep up the trace and you know where to find me, when the city leaves no space it´s down there by the river where my thoughts keep up the trace

what's there looking back at us if we only dare a glance we're still burning, despite our past we have begun, and been till ends and if even only the stars look at us the sky must be the limit the sky must be the limit friends we're still in it and we can't walk back from nowhere say, we're simply on our way leave our tracks and leave our flag here the world may track our path someday if even only the stars look at us the sky must be the limit the sky must be the limit this is ours (oder so it's ours), make it us, fill us in, fire up to the stars

about

Theories In The Absence Of Definition
It took many years. With this collection of songs a very important chapter in my life shall finally find a conclusion.
This shorter album or longer EP, has been created in cooperation with many great musicians from the past years. Originally two of the songs are from the time with my first big band "Beside", where both of them never really fitted into the repertoire. I always knew that they needed a special place and should be released in their own light.

The title of the CD "Theories In The Absence Of Definition" carries the name of one of the pieces and thus also forms the heart of this CD. For me it is also the most important piece, because I personally connect it strongly with my father. The original version was musically co-developed by Kai Steckmann, who still belonged to the first line-up of "Beside" and wrote the lyrics and the vocal melody in addition to the concise bass lines. In the later line-up with Chris Herb on touch guitar and Tom Johansen on vocals some changes were made which finally resulted in the basis of this final version. Basically it's a big piece of work, which consists of three parts and thus connects two single songs by a longer solo stretch.

The second song from the "Beside" period is "Find Me". It was written with the musicians of the last/most recent line-up and also never managed to prevail over the more poppy songs as one of their own. However, in terms of mood it fits the title song wonderfully and supports the framework of this CD extraordinarily. The lyrics and vocals were written by Tom Johannsen alone. It can also be heard in the form of a telephone conversation.

Since two songs are not enough for an album/EP release, I decided to write another song especially for this CD. "The Sky Must Be The Limit" completes the whole work, both from the sound and the aesthetics wonderfully. In order to continue the lyrics of "old times", I was able to win Kai Steckmann for the lyrics again, in order to span the bow completely.

As final lineup I could convince Dennis Degen, Chris Herb and Karsten Mroszczok. Since Dennis also has a special relationship to the songs, I am very happy that he was willing to contribute his drumming to all songs. It gives the songs exactly the rhythmic expression that they deserve, both then and now. Through Chris' participation, a new instrument, the Touch Guitar, developed by Markus Reuter, has made a great contribution to the lower frequencies. In combination with the others this results in a slightly different "bass" like sound, which fits perfectly into the concept. Karsten was also able to fully contribute to the production with self designed sounds and filled the songs with the numerous pads and atmospheric addons.

All songs would never have been written without the support and help of various people involved. For this I would like to thank you really very much, because it means a lot to me. A very big thanks to:

Dennis Degen
Karsten Mroszczok
Chris Herb
Kai Steckmann
Marcel Ackermann
Tom Johannsen

This work is dedicated to my father, who unfortunately will never hold the final product in his hands. He was my biggest fan and has always supported me in my musical career so far. Without him I would never be the musician I am today.
